how to fill out and return your ballot

Due to COVID-19 all registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot in the mail.

All voters will be able to vote by filling out this ballot. Vote-by-mail ballots will start being sent out around October 5th.

There are different ways to return your ballet once it has been filled out that way it can be counted.

  • Drop it in any USPS mailbox by Tuesday, November 3rd (no stamps needed - the envelope is pre-paid). Must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 3rd and arrive at the Alameda County Registrar of Voters by Friday, November 6th

  • Drop it in a Ballot DropBox.  Ballots dropped off at a ballot drop box will be picked up daily by Alameda County Vote staff (the people who actually count the ballots)!  Ballot Drop Boxes are a very secure way to mail in your ballot!  The ballot drop boxes are now open and will be closed at 8 pm sharp on Tuesday, November 3rd.

There are hundreds of Official Ballot Drop Boxes scattered around the Bay Area at libraries, community centers and City Halls. Here’s a list by city. Check with your local registrars office for more information on where you can drop off you ballot before the polls officially close at 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.
